CLIENT AREA

Introduction to Interim Management

Interim Management is a widely accepted and cost effective resource of “on demand” managers capable of delivering quick results on business critical assignments. Often viewed as a Consultancy resource Interim Management differs in the fact that Interim Managers advise and offer “hands on” delivery of solutions to the client often at a third of the price of a consultant.

What is an Interim Manager ?

Interim Managers are highly skilled and experienced senior managers engaged to work alongside client management teams on short/medium or long term business enhancement contracts. They operate as individual Limited Companies and are paid day rates for the days they are working on assignments.

Benefits of Interim Management

With Interim Managers being typically overqualified for any given client contract and ordinarily having chosen an Interim career path due to the work life and financial benefits Interim Management provides the concept is able to provide client businesses with not only a very cost effective and flexible management resource but also a means for key deliverables and timescales to be agreed prior to commencement of any given contract.

Interim Managers can be supplied to the client to solve “short term” or business critical issues without the fixed costs or Human Resource factors ordinarily associated with more traditional full time/permanent forms of business management recruitment strategy, and Interim Managers only charge for the days they work.

The nature of the Interim Manager/Client relationship is one of partnership and collaboration focusing on any given issue and delivering results by the guidance, mentoring or development of key client staff as part of the improvement process with additional legacy benefits regarding onward staff experience and knowledge also being achieved. With the use of Interim Management there is a considerably reduced risk of “office politics” affecting the relationship between Interim Managers and client staff as Interims have chosen the Interim career path and will not be viewed as a replacement threat by incumbant client staff.

The Interim Management concept is particularly effective at delivering results as Interim Managers will typically be skilled problem solvers and adept at achieving key deliverables within agreed timescales (their future success is dependant on the results delivered to the client).

IMLC Ltd Interim Management Value Proposition

IMLC Interim Managers provide solutions, key staff mentoring/development and delivery of results that produce a measurable ‘Return on Investment’ to our clients. Whilst Interim Managers are paid on a ‘day-rate’ basis, routine performance monitoring of the Interim and regular progress reports to the client throughout the life cycle of any assignment ensures payments are made on the basis of agreed outcomes and objectives being delivered.

An IMLC Interim Manager can be in place within 5-10 days as opposed to weeks or months through more traditional recruitment methods and at IMLC we understand the business critical nature of assignments we undertake for our clients. An IMLC Interim Manager will be practiced at high speed engagement “hitting the ground running” to quickly become effective within a client organisation and having the required expertise and ability an IMLC Interim Manager will conduct and complete assignments within previously agreed timescales .

IMLC Interim Managers will be sensibly over-qualified for any assignment role they are taking on in order that they immediately effect assignment outcomes and are productive from day 1, in addition to bringing previous experience of similar challenges to the ones they are about to face, reducing the risk of things going wrong and, more importantly, improving the likelihood of success.

Due to the transitory nature of Interim Management an IMLC Interim Manager will often commence a client assignment unencumbered by any previous involvement in company processes or management relationships, allowing the IMLC Interim Manager to provide clear perspective, often bringing knowledge of other industry best practice and allowing focus on what's best for our client’s business. IMLC Interim Managers are practised at avoiding company ‘politics’ and make straight forward contributions without constituting a threat to incumbent managers.

Unlike Management Consultancy the role of an IMLC Interim Manager is not a purely advisory one as IMLC Interim Managers are capable and accountable line managers with the ability to implement, mentor/develop key staff and manage a business solution or change project in their own right or as part of an internal client team. By being pivotal to any assignment’s successful delivery IMLC Interim Managers give our clients the peace of mind that immediate ownership of any business solution or project is transferred to the IMLC Interim Manager at commencement of the assignment.

IMLC Interim Managers will have had previous experience of operating within the senior management/board-level environment and as such have the confidence and know how to spearhead change, performance improvement or transition within our client’s business. Unlike a ‘temp’ they're not just there to ‘hold the fort’ IMLC Interim Managers will actively add value to the client organisation as a result of our approach and inclusion of key client staff in the assignment brief to ensure legacy benefits are enjoyed by the client long after the Interim has moved on.

At IMLC we make a commitment to any client assignment and we aim to negate any client concerns, that our Interim Managers will walk away to an alternate permanent or Interim position, by way of our Assignment Performance and Completion based pricing policy. Typically IMLC Interim Managers perform a succession of different assignments, in differing market sectors, maintaining high professional standards in both business improvement methods and personal development as their future success relies on a demonstrable record of successful assignment delivery.
